How To Install Android 7.1 Nougat in NEXUS 4 and Upgrade it

Prerequisites

  3. Install the Custom Recovery in your Nexus 4 Phone.
  4. Its bootloader should be unlocked.
  5. Install the Latest USB Drivers for Nexus 4 in computer.
  6. Ensure that Your Phone has more than 80% of Battery Backup Before you proceed.
  7. Finally, Enable USB Debugging Options for Your Phone. Settings > Applications and then tapping on Developer Options.

Download the Android 7.1 Nougat N2 OS

First of all, Download the Android 7.1 Nougat Nitrogen OS Custom ROM Zip file here. Also, Download the Android 7.1 Google Apps file.

Step 1:

First of all, Connect your Nexus 4 Phone to Computer via USB cable. Then Copy the Downloaded Android 7.1 N2 OS Zip file into the SD card of your Device.

Step 2:

In this step, You have to boot your phone via Custom Recovery. To do this, press and holding Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons together. Or n the Command Prompt or Terminal type,

adb devices
adb reboot bootloader

Step 3:

In the Recovery Screen, Choose the Wipe > Factory Reset. In this Process user data will be deleted not your file and folders. Also, wipe cache partition to perform cache wipe.

Step 4:

In this step, Install the Android 7.1 N2 OS Zip file. In Custom Recovery Choose the Install Zip via SD  option and locate the Nitrogen OS Android 7.1 Zip file. Then Confirm the installation process and wait for process to complete.

Step 5:

Finally, The Android 7.1 will be installed in the Nexus 4 in the above step. Furthermore, You can install the Google Apps using the Install Zip via SD option. Now, Restart your Nexus device and your phone will be booted into the Android 7.1. The First boot after the installation of the N2 OS will take sometime to finish. Once it finished, You will be taken to Android 7.1 Home screen with Google Apps.
